The Kamakura-Bori is a hand-carving craft which uses katsura-wood. It is lacqured more than ten times with organic plant stains (Urushi-nuri).
This art dates back to the Kamakura era (1185 - 1333) and has been passed down through generations.
This beautiful mid-century "Hashi Bako" is of "Kabuse (top cover)" style with a "Take (bamboo)" design, and crafted in Kamakura city, Japan. It comes with a sign "Kamakura-bori" on the back of case.
