This 217-page hardcover is a stated Third Edition, (1922), Revised and Rearranged by the Author. Illustrated by J.F. Horrabin, and published by MacMillan,.This is a one-volume compilation of the original two-volume set.This classic is clean, bright and unmarked inside. - no foxing of dampness. The only note is some wear along the cover edges, consistent with the age of this volume (and its long-term residence upon a book shelf). During his lifetime, the famous author kept notes on historic events and revised his book (this is his first revision) - up until the later 1930s. This book had a major impact on the teaching of history in schools, but it is not Wells' most well-known book. Those would be his science fiction novels. - 'The War of the Worlds' and 'The Time Machine. This is a hefty book. It will be packed carefully and sent with tracking. less
