This rare form of basket-weave with reticulated rims is attributed to Mt. Washington Glass Works of New Bedford, Massachusetts circa 1886-1890. Pieces from this manufacturer were rarely signed, or they had paper labels which often wore off. This type of glass is typically called Rose Amber or Amberina, and is collectible as Americana. The attractive dark red color contrasts well with the amber hue of the bottom, where it reflects light onto other surfaces. The pair is cheerful and elegant on an entry-way table as receptacles for keys or pocket items - besides offering sweet treats to your guests in the foyer or on the dinner table. See less
