Minor cracks in rim. Measures 12" high x 24 1/2" diameter. Glorious in a garden setting.
Can be, and has been, used as a planter: it has a factory drill hole. Very heavy and very sound.
The Italian Terra Cotta Company operated in Los Angeles in the 1920's and 1930's and made a wide variety of garden items. Their pieces are usually signed and have attractive features. They are particularly known for their rendition of Neo-Classical styles, as with this elegant design: #109.
