A grouping of three antique engravings depicting statues found in the Vatican, including: "Pescatore" (Fisherman), "Pastore" and "Istrione", "Gia nella … Read more A grouping of three antique engravings depicting statues found in the Vatican, including: "Pescatore" (Fisherman), "Pastore" and "Istrione", "Gia nella Villa Mattei" (Found in the Villa Mattei). These original engravings were created after drawings by Vincenzo Dolcibene (1746-1820) for the Il Museo Pio Clementino. They were published in Rome in 1784 by the conservator of the Capitoline Museum in the Vatican, Italian archaeologist Ennio Quirini Visconti (1751-1818). They are meant to illustrate the fine antiquities on exhibit at the Museum of Sculpture established in 1771 by Pope Clement XIV (1705-1774).

These prints are presented in identical distinctive and stylish black wood frames and double mats; the outer mats are light grey and the inner mats are black. The frames and prints are in excellent condition. Each frame measures 28" x 21.13" x 1". They would make a wonderful display grouping, but are also available as individual purchases, if preferred, for $1,575/each. See less
