This is a hand-colored folio sized lithograph entitled "Yunx indica" (Indian Wryneck) by John Gould from his monograph "The Birds of Asia", published in London in 1850-1883. The print, which was drawn by Gould and H. C. Richter and lithographed by Hullmandel and Walton, depicts two Indian Wryneck birds, one with an outstretched wing. Both are perched on taupe and brown-colored tree limbs with light green and brown-colored leaves. The birds are brown and cream-colored with rust color under their beaks and necks.
This beautiful Gould hand-colored woodpecker lithograph measures 21" x 14.13". There are multiple small spots. The print is otherwise in excellent condition. The original text page is included with a round blindstamp in the right lower corner.
