The lotus was commonly used in art as a symbol of Upper Egypt. It was often shown with its long stems intertwined with papyrus reeds (a symbol of Lower Egypt) as a representation of the unification of the two lands.

Throughout history, the allure of ancient Egypt has exerted a particularly profound influence on the decorative arts, igniting numerous resurgences of Egyptian ornamentation. Egyptian motifs would become an intrinsic component of the Art Deco design vocabulary, a dominant style in the decorative arts until the mid-1930s. One of the most recognizable examples of Egyptian influenced Art Deco can be seen in the design of the Chrysler Building in New York.
Dimensions: 14 inches high (35.5cm); 3.75 inches diameter at the base (9.5cm).
Condition: very good, appealing piece of metal art with normal time patina. Interior is raw, unfinished, with original soot. Bottom has original caliber numbers of the shell case.
