This " Fiorucci " rare first edition New Wave Italian fashion collector's hardcover Pop Art book is a very special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The hardcover book with laminated cover boards is published by Rizzoli New York, printed in Italy in 2017. Edited by David Owen, foreword by Sofia Coppola, with interviews by Douglas Coupland, David Dewaele, Marc Jacobs, Terry Jones, Maripol, and Oliviero Toscani. The lavishly illustrated book features chapters on Fiorucci Posters, Logos, Stores, Graphics, Fanzines, Collections, and Parties.
The world famous Italian fashion brand was founded in 1967 by Elio Fiorucci. The first shop exposed Milan to the styles of swinging London and American classics such as the t-shirt and jeans. By the late 1970's and early 1980's this would be reversed, and the New York store would become famous for the fashions it introduced in The United States.
In the early 1980's the Fiorucci boutique in New York City was the epicenter of the New Wave Postmodern fashion scene. It was the place to be, and referred to as " the Daytime Studio 54 ". It attracted trendsetters including Andy Warhol, Jackie O., Truman Capote, Debbie Harry, and a young Madonna among many other creative and well known people.
Fifty years after its founding, the iconic Milanese fashion label published this collector's book to coincide with the 50th Anniversary. This volume is a tribute to and celebration of the history of a pioneering colorful brand. Fiorucci came to define more than any other brand the fashion of the 1980's. famous for scouring the world to bring vibrant elements of global underground culture to their designs, Fiorucci is responsible for defining the extravagant palette of The Post-Punk Era, with neon and fluorescent tones, iridescent spandex and stretch denim, bringing the influences of Pop Art and Pop culture to bear on fashion for the first time. In the spirit of Fiorucci itself, this delightful book is a bright and intoxicating visual tour of this iconic brand.
