The Battle of Regensburg was part of the Napoleonic Wars, and was fought on April 23, 1809 between the army of the First French Empire led by Napoleon Bonaparte and that of the Austrian Empire led by Charles of Habsburg-Teschen. Scene of the last battle of the Bavarian phase of the 1809 campaign, the brief defense of the city and the installation of a bridge to the east allowed the retreat of the Austrian army towards Bohemia.
