Dominique Pouchain was born in 1956 in the Drome region of France.
By the age of 17, he was already producing utilitarian ceramics in his parents' workshop, Rolande and Jacques Pouchain.
from 1981 onwards, Dominique Pouchain turned to clay sculpture.
His universe is the representation of a bestiary tinged with humor.
Goats, bulls, birds, horses, unicorns, proud and elegant, strong and gentle, recognizable by their naive air.
The clay he uses is a chamotte clay that enables him to achieve a grainy finish, as well as large formats.
Dominique Pouchain's work is characterized by generous, soft and pure curves. His stylized forms evoke figures from mythological iconography, but are also reminiscent of African sculptural art.
