His works are included in the Louisiana Stste Museum and the historic New Orleans Collection and hundreds of private collections around the country, the water colors especially sold to tourist.
The artist was born in New Orleans, the son of a riverboat captain. By age 16 Rucker had opened his own gallery in the French quarter. Contracting polio, he studied with important southern artist John McCready of the Johñ McCready School of fine arts, and he was influenced by Knute Heldner and Clarence Millet . Today works in oil and watercolor appear frequently at auction, finding eager buyers. This example is an excellent condition and is nicely framed in gold faux bambo . Framed measures 13” x 22.5”.
