This Rooster by Ugo Zaccagnini has attitude. And why not? He brings together traditional Italian Majolica pottery stylings with a modern twist that was influenced by Italian Modern Artist Modigliani (1884-1920). Beautiful glossy creamy white rooster with a bright red crest sits on top of a matte glaze faux wood base. Clean lines and the blank eyes of a Modigliani make this rooster particularly special. It bears the mark for Ugo Zaccagnini used between 1935-1955. This would have been the time that Urbano Zaccagnini was master designer for the Zaccagnini brand. He certainly would have been influenced by the modern Italian artist --and friend of Picasso-- whose blank eyes were his signature. This is not just a pottery rooster figurine. This is a true piece of collectible art.
Marked with its design or mould number: A.2017/1/A. A very rare piece that was made in limited quantities.

It seamlessly blends in and feels more like patina than an imperfection. There is some crazy and staining on the bottom of the piece which attests to its age. less
