A symphony of verdant damask embraced by gold cording and inlaid sycamore. Representing an impressive manifestation of the scholarship and bespoke British craft championed by David Linley. These beautifully detailed chairs, dated 1996, show the hand of Linley at the height of his inspiration and engagement.

David Linley was appointed to the non-executive Board of Christie’s in 2005 and assumed the role of Chairman of Christie’s UK in December 2006. In October 2015 he was named Hon. Chairman for Christie’s in Europe, the Middle East, Russia and India.

David Linley has written numerous books (Star Pieces, Classical Furniture, Extraordinary Furniture) and lectured at leading institutions including the V&A Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, the LA County Museum of Art, the Dallas Museum of Art and the Art Institute of Chicago. He achieved renown for the unique artistry of his eponymous company, LINLEY, a London-based designer and maker of furniture, upholstery and accessories.
