Antique 19th century Moore Brothers porcelain quail and chick teapot. The mother bird decorated in bright turquoise blue, the handle flowering green foliage. Two white chicks add to the charm of this rare piece. The birds stand atop a mossy ground above a classical greek key footrim.
Retailed by Thomas Goode and Co., London. Impressed on base rim MOORE with illegible registry mark and partly effaced printed retailer's mark. Restorations to interior of lid; possible restoration to beak. Abrasion to glaze on chick's head at lid. A beautiful piece.
Measures 6 1/4" tall x 7 3/4" across over handle and spout x 3 1/2".
