Recently I had the entire piece … Read more I acquired this James Mont 1950s cherry wood Chinoiserie bench in the mid 8i0s. Recently I had the entire piece restored by a wonderful wood worker friend. The designer James Mont got most of his designs for his furniture from the Chinese.. When you see the craftsmanship and how all the joints and curves are put in place you will be amazed at the smooth edges and elegant curves. The Chinoiserie carved back designs were carved to insure good health, wealth and prosperity. It has newly upholstered Cotton fabric seat cushion. The traditional fabric has a raised pattern spun into the fabric. See less
