Wonderful vase of small dimensions and practically spherical shape, except for the mouth and the base, which stand out slightly. Made in the 70s in Murano crystal through the blown glass technique, with several layers and colors. Inside, a mottled in ocher tones appears that are glimpsed slightly to the outside, where the black color takes prominence.
Murano's crystal is an art form of glass that originated on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. with a story that dates back to more than 700 years, Murano's glass teachers have perfected the blowing and molding techniques of the glass by hand, transmitting their knowledge and skills from generation to generation. Murano's glass creations are recognized for their high quality, artistic beauty and exquisite details. with a wide range of intricate colors and designs, Murano's glass has left a lasting brand in the world of art and design, being appreciated by collectors and art lovers worldwide.
Today, it continues to be produced by skilled artisans, keeping this rich artisanal tradition alive. Its creations range from traditional and ornamental pieces to modern and contemporary designs. It is considered a valuable craft and a unique artistic expression, appreciated for its uniqueness and its ability to create visually impressive pieces.
How is this made?
The glass is made up of silica, which dissolves at high temperatures, between 1200 to 1400 degrees Celsius to form a paste. After reducing the temperature to 800 °, the liquid vessel is collected at the end of the Cerbatan by one of the teacher's assistants, the "Serventant". During this procedure, the "serve" rides the pipe in the oven, and then lifts it to remove it from the glass, rotating the pipe to eliminate any excess. The fumes derived from this process are highly toxic, so workers can only exercise for 25 years.
Several materials can be added at the top of the bubble, such as precious metal leaves, fine glass canes or coloring pastes, in order to ornament. Subsequently the glass is stretched, crushed, pinch, iron, striped, lengthened and cut. Teachers turn the glass on the pipes forming symmetrical circles in the air, thus obtaining the desired shape, such as the pieces of our mirrors. Once the piece is finished, the temperature is recovering gradually to prevent the glass from exploding. Once cooled, the cold polishing phase begins.
