However, it is a little known fact that these beautiful cabinets with ornate brass hardware are made for the women quarters called "anbang." The austere plain cabinets are for men who follow the teachings of the Chinese philosopher Confucius. Furniture found in an "anbang" are for storage in different levels. The cabinet here is a fine example.

The attractive cabinet sits on a base and both pieces are decorated with attractive metalwork plates. The cabinet's front is divided into three compartments, each one with panels of figured wood of burl wood. The doors are held in place by locks. The sides and back are done in darker color woods but do not detract from the beauty of the cabinet. Each compartment is roomy and all storage for clothing and other things. less

Without the base, the cabinet is 58 inches high The base is 42.5 inches wide by 21 inches deep and 9 inches high less
