Beautifully hand crafted orignal Californian papasan chairs created in 1968. Featuring their original cushion & circular central cushion with the ability to swivel 360 degrees this pair is a stunning example of mid twentieth century craftsmanship. The cushions delicate mustard velvet covers are hands sewn on & the small buttons on the central cushion are held in by hand done cross stitches.
The bamboo and rattan on this pair are wonderfully crafted into a sweeping circular shape so indicative of the ‘Maui’ aesthetic so popular at the time. The steam bent backs of the chairs are supported by beautiful bamboo circular tubes. The arms are constructed in raw bamboo tubes and the pieces are all held together by Rattan.
This pair are an incredibly rare duo with their original materials and button cushions with Rattan & bamboo in great structural condition. They have their original import stamps from California to Kensington London, a wonderfully human touch to a stunning pair.

Very good vintage condition, the bamboo has developed a beautiful patina over the years, the structure of the chairs are brilliant & the swivel mechanism works smoothly, there is so decay to the rattan, the material is very well preserved. Please refer to the photos. This piece has an attribution mark,
I am sure that it is completely authentic and take full responsibility for any authenticity

Orders where Free Local Pickup or Seller Managed Local Delivery were selected:
- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
- Once you have taken possession of the item, all sales are final

- Chairish Express In-Home deliveries are currently only offered for international cross-border shipments.
- The item will be delivered to your home and placed in the desired room. The delivery service includes unpacking, inspecting, and removing packaging materials; and does not include installation or setting up the item.
- Shipping charges start at $999 and vary based on the size, weight, packaging, and/or the value of the item.
- Deliveries can take anywhere from 6 to 9 weeks to be delivered.
- Chairish Freight Delivery
- Delivered in a crate, to your front door.
- You will need tools and/or equipment to open the crate.

- Chairish Freight deliveries can take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks.
