Kutani Boat from the Showa Period in Japan (1926-1989)
Wonderful decor piece, often used in Ikebana flower arranging as the base.
The boat features a fisherman on the front/bow of the boat. Made of earthenware that was hand painted in white and cobalt blue. On the sides, the various designs replicate birds and waves, the other designs are sometsuke arabesque in style. It has a high gloss glazed finish.
Pristine, no chips, cracks or crazing.
This piece is rather large, and weighs just over 6 pounds.
