Thrush, British artist middle of the 20th century, "Art deco style Lady's Portrait '42" (1942), beautiful strong portrait of a brown haired lady in the art deco style, coloring is vibrant, wearing a white patterned blouse, against a royal blue floral background, there is a tiny beauty mark on her chin, 11 3/4" x 8", signed M.K.A. Thrush '42 (1942) in the lower right corner front. CA number 3930, CA purchased late summer 2023 from an English auction house. On the reverse of the discarded, damage old frame was a label: Millicent K.A. Thrush, 86 Osborne Road, Windsor, "Mollie", watercolor 14 1/2" x 19" (incorrect size of this painting), Not For Sale.
The work has been cleaned, matted in 8-ply White Museum matboard, lined, Conservation Clear Glass, museum backing, 1/2" Roma weathered gold moulding.
Although the label does not belong to this painting it provides some artist information.
Millicent was born in Barry, Glamorgan, Wales and was the daughter of a bookmaker. See less
