Sargent is an original modern artwork realized by Edmond Lavrate in the second half of the 19th Century. Ink and watercolor drawing. Hand-signed on the lower central margin with a inscription. Good conditions in a yellowed paper except for some ripples along the margins . The work was realized by Edmond Lavrate (Orleans, 1829 - Paris, 1888), a designer, lithographer, anticlerical French inventor of advertisements and illustrated questions. Lavrate then devoted himself to comic watercolor, through which he particularly targeted the military. with the advent of the Republic, the cartoonist attacked the figure of Napoleon III, favorite target Republicans since Sedan. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
