Castel dell'Ovo is a seafront castle in Naples, located on the former island of Megaride, now a peninsula, in the Gulf of Naples in Italy. This is the oldest castle in Naples, with structures dating back to a Roman villa from 1st century BC. There is a legend about Virgil, the Ancient Roman poet, who put a magical egg into the foundations to support the fortifications. If this egg would've been broken, the castle would have been destroyed and series of disastrous events would follow.
