W.P. Katz is a late twentieth century Pre Columbian Style, Sculptor and Painter. He was born in New York, studied at The Art Students League and with Sebastiano Mineo of New York City. For five years he worked and lived in the home that was once occupied by the great American sculptor Gutson Borglum. His works are in many private collections in the United States, Norway, England, Canada and Greece.
Best known for sculptures, he also created paintings and designed textiles and jewelry. Alexander Kirkland called him an abstract "figurist-fantasist." He died in 2003 and his work has increased in value during the past few years. This particular sculpture is both provocative and sensual is stands 15" tall x 12.5" wide x 7 3/4" deep. It sits on a revolving base that is 9" x 14.5" x 3.5" tall which sits on a laminated black column that is 32" tall 15" wide and 10" deep. The length of the entire piece is approx. 50.5" tall. It is a great addition to any collection of art. Although I know the sculpture is made of stone, I am not 100% sure of the type of stone. It looks like it can be marble but its probably something more exotic
