This antique beauty begs to be filled with flowers and produce at a farmers market - or toss in a bottle of wine, a baguette, and some cheese and fruit and go on a picnic!

On the other hand, this basket is an exquisite antique item, made entirely (and painstakingly) by hand, which miraculously remains in much the same condition as when it was created - only because it has not suffered the abuse of everyday life. So perhaps consider instead how gorgeous this piece will look on display in your home, (with only the occasional trip to the farmer's market)) so as to ensure it survives another hundred years!

The craftsmanship of the basket is absolutely superb. The artisan masterfully blended multiple weaves and woods to create a true masterpiece. The body is both wicker and splint, bordered on top by a braided rim. The rope handles were also made by hand. I believe the red and white paint was a later addition - but not a recent one. It has a perfectly weathered patina, and adds even more charm and character to this singular piece.
