On top is an ornately cast rocaille appliqué with fans and rope twisted details. To the back, above the wooden handle is a small rococo cast handle for lifting the lid. Originally silent butlers were used for collecting crumbs from a dinner table, the contents of ashtrays, etc., for disposal. See less
