Faceted lucite with embedded, shaved bronze pieces were a hallmark of Herb Ritt's modernistic designs for Astrolite of California.
The original use of the piece is unknown, most likely a catchall for trinkets, rings, a candle holder as shown, or simply an objet d'art. A faint circular rub around the opening indicates there once was a metal insert as shown in a photo of another piece by same manufacturer. (Not for sale.)
