Paul Levi was regarded as one of the foremost collectors and dealers of antique frames, assembling one of the most important collections of its kind.
Details:
-A distinguished pair of mid-18th century Neo-Gothic German carved, gilded, and painted double-sided frames
-Acquired from the celebrated Christie's South Kensington sale, The Collection and Stock in Trade of Mr. Paul Levi (Part IX), May 8, 1997.
-Featuring pierced crestings with ribbon motifs, scrolling foliage, and flower-head corners. -Frames are further accented by black painted astragal moldings along both inner and outer edges.
-Each have a slot in the bottom which suggests they were placed on a stand.
-Approximate Dimensions: 14.5" x 16.5"
