Detailed illustration of a sailor in a catamaran by Edward T. Liljenwall (American, 1943-2010). The sailboat is tilted at an extreme angle, with the sailor leaning out over the edge for balance. Water is splashing up on the opposite side of the boat.

Edward T. Liljenwall (American, 1943-2010) attended Pasadena City College and later graduated from the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles in 1967 with a BS in industrial design. He worked as an automotive designer before joining the Hewlitt-Packard design team and was largely responsible for designing the HP-35 Pocket Calculator, the first one of its kind. Liljenwall was awarded several patents for his design work while employed with HP.
