These substantial solid bronze vases are exquisitely cast, with verdigris patina and sculptural form that speaks to both antique Chinese design and mid-century Hollywood Regency styling.

Believed to date from the late 19th to early 20th century, the lamps are mounted on solid rosewood bases and capped with matching rosewood tops. The attention to detail is remarkable: custom bronze finials, hand-painted brass hardware to match the patina, and adjustable brass rods topped with the original silk lampshades—which are nothing short of breathtaking. The shades feature a gently curved silhouette with classic Chinese-inspired styling and are in very good vintage condition (a few small blemishes, no tears).

Each lamp has new brown silk cords, and the original Bakelite push-button switches still function (one has a small chip, noted for accuracy but does not affect function). Wiring has been tested and is in excellent working condition.

These are often mistaken for James Mont pieces—and understandably so—but they are not signed and pre-date Mont’s peak by several decades. A truly one-of-a-kind pair for collectors, designers, or anyone looking to add serious drama and elegance to an interior.
