A delightful find from the brocantes of Paris. This set came home from a buying trip through the neighborhood flea markets scattered across the city, the small ones that most buyers skip on their way to the big markets outside it.
Three chartreuse porcelain plates, c. 1950, each 8" across, glow with the electric lime green that defined the boldest mid-century tables. Each has five Escargot Well With them are Danish silverplate serving pieces: three two-tine forks and one pair of tongs, clean-lined and quietly Scandinavian. French color with Danish restraint makes a pairing that feels sophisticated and a little unexpected.
Seven pieces in all: three plates, three forks and one pair of tongs. Lovely for escargot, and just as good for canapés, a small first course or dessert.
Condition: very good, lovingly used, with minor wear consistent with age.
