This black pen and … Read more An incredibly poignant print highlighting Michigan-born artist, Janet M. Anderson's (1949-1996) unwavering admiration of downtown Detroit. This black pen and ink line drawing, hand-numbered by the artist "99/100", is titled "Renaissance Construction" and depicts the Detroit riverfront during the mid-1970s as construction was underway for the Renaissance Center. The print is signed, initialed "JM 76", and dated, "October 1975" by the artist.

The drawing is on linen-colored paper and professionally framed with a khaki-colored matt and chestnut-colored trim. The framed drawing is 14.75" W, 11.75" H, and 1" D. The drawing within the matt is 9.5" W and 7.5" H.

Anderson studied drawing, illustration, and printmaking at the Cranbrook Academy of Arts, the University of Michigan, the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, and at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY.

Anderson displayed her work at many Detroit-area institutions including the Art Institute of Detroit, the Fisher Building, the Detroit Historical Museum, the Detroit Bicennential Gallery, the Renaissance Center, and at Cobo Hall. Anderson is widely known for her contributions to the Detroit Historical Society's "Documenting Detroit". See less
