W.P. Katz is a late twentieth century Pre Columbian Style, Sculptor and Painter. He was born in New York, studied at The Art Students League and with Sebastiano Mineo of New York City. For five years he worked and lived in the home that was once occupied by the great American sculptor Gutson Borglum. His works are in many private collections in the United States, Norway, England, Canada and Greece.
Best known for sculptures, he also created paintings and designed textiles and jewelry. Alexander Kirkland called him an abstract "figurist-fantasist." He died in 2003 and his work has increased in value during the past few years. This particular piece is very large and sits on a revolving black Laminated base which is 17" square and 4" tall, The revolving base plus a black laminated wood column as stand gives the sculpture great presence and visibility and truly enhance the value of the art. The column is 19"height x 12"width/depth x 16" length. The total height with the three pieces combined is 47.5" tall. I would recommend hiring three people to move the sculpture it is very heavy, and need to be handled with care.
