This is a rare Huntley and Palmers Biscuit (cookie) tin made in England from 1912 to 1913. Highly collectible, it is a metal tin decorated to look like a small leather pencil box with straps and brass fittings. The design is printed on the tin using offset lithography. The Huntley and Palmers logo is on the lid and stamped on the bottom.
Huntley and Palmers began producing decorated tins in 1868 and object shaped tins such as this one in the 1890s. They marketed their tins through popular Christmas catalogues.
This tin is in good condition with some wear and loss of print. The lid and handle are in proper working order.
