The Abstract Expressionist calendar print is a page from a large art calendar published by Te Neues Publishing Co., printed in Germany in 1998. The print features an original artwork titled " Vase on a Red Table " created by Hofmann in 1938. This print is suitable for framing.

Hans Hofmann ( 1880 - 1966 ) German born, is one of the most important painters of the postwar Abstract Expressionist movement. His work is distinguished by a rigorous concern with pictorial structure, spatial illusions, and color relationships. he believed that Abstract Art was the way to get at the important reality. He famously stated that " The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary that the necessary can speak ".

He was both an artist and an educator with his own schools of painting in New York and Provincetown. His alumni included Lee Krasner, Helen Frankenthaler, Louise Nevelson, Ray Eames and John Grillo among many others. Major retrospective exhibitions of his work have been held by The Museum of Modern Art New York, and The Tate Museum London among many other international exhibitions. The artworks of Hans Hofmann are included in the permanent collections of many of the worlds most prestigious museums.

The rare out of print vintage offset lithograph calendar print measures 12 1/4" W X 13 1/2" H, with an image area of 10" W X 12 1/2" H. There is a different artwork on the reverse back side by another artist. It is in excellent " like new " vintage condition consistent with age and light signs of handling. It has never been framed, and is now being offered here for an excellent price. less
