The vase has a simple organic silhouette with a gently rounded body and subtly irregular character characteristic of individually blown glass. Rather than the clear transparency of conventional pink or cranberry glass, the body has a soft, almost opaline quality that diffuses the light and gives the color unusual depth. Variations in the glass create a natural graduated effect, becoming richer and more saturated through the lower portion of the vessel.
Visible bubbles and subtle irregularities are inherent to the hand-blown process and contribute to the character of the piece. The underside retains a rough-cut, softened pontil scar, further evidence of its handmade construction.
Maker and country of origin are unknown. Based on its form, construction and color treatment, the vase appears to date to the latter part of the 20th century, likely circa 1970s–1980s.
A sophisticated piece of modern art glass whose restrained form allows the unusual rose, mauve and plum coloration to take center stage.
Dimensions: approximately 9.5" H × 6" W.
Condition: Very good vintage condition with minor irregularities inherent to hand-blown glass. Please refer to photographs for details. See less
