Originally designed in 1918 by Rene' Lalique - this "powder box" was an homage to his friend Edgar Degas. A delicate ballerina crowns a lid covered with the folds of her tutu skirt.
This 1989 limited edition was issued to commemorate the formation of the Lalique Society of America. And was only available for purchase by charter society members through approved Lalique dealers nationwide. Hence the etched attribution to the date and society on the piece's bottom.
Founded a century ago in Alsace France - Lalique artisans produce unique crystal objects d'art moulded from molten glass. Which are hand finished with up to 40 proprietary steps prior to completion.
Measures 3.25" diameter x 2.75" high.
