Early Uriarte pieces were heavily influenced by imported Chinese ceramics and Middle Eastern colors and patterns to create a uniquely Mexican design. This set features an Asian inspired floral motiff with richly patterned edges in cobalt blue, green, yellow and deep rose colors, both slightly fused and atop the crackled, cream color glaze. Teapot is unmarked, but sugar and creamer are both marked with Ysauro Urinate’s’ now famed initials. The pieces are slightly irregular in shape as they are also hand formed (not molded) and measure as follows:

Teapot 10” wide, 7” deep, 8” tall
Sugar 5.25” wide, 4.75” deep, 5” tall
Creamer 6” wide, 4.75” deep, 5.5” tall

No cracks or chips, but there is pitting, including along the edges, from the firing process due to impurities in the clay, which is typical for the early pieces. Rare chance to own antique or near antique pieces of history that are sure to brighten any tabletop or hutch. Cup and saucers are available separately.
