Tribal West African male Bambara headdress in carved wood. The piece depicts a male antelope referred to as "Chi wara," for a mythical antelope. Antelope headpieces such as this are used in a dance celebrating the harvest. The body with incised decoration, mounted to a wood base. Tip of horns and tail wrapped with leather and hair extensions. In great vintage condition with age-appropriate wear and use.
