"Doppelgänger" Original by Song Watkins Park
Doppelgänger depicts Victor and the Creature locked in an ongoing chase. Abstract and urgent, it is impossible to tell which being is which, or who is pursuing who. The swirling colors capture the cyclical nature of the conflict, in which it is difficult to identify the point of origin. The cool blue tones reflect the arctic landscape and contrast the bright, emotive eyes of the figures. Interestingly, neither pair of eyes seem to convey malice, rather pain and shock, indicating that this is a battle in which nobody wins and everyone loses. What battles do we pursue to our own detriment and what power might emerge from stillness?
