"Expedition" Original by Song Watkins Park
Expedition depicts Walton’s ship crossing the treacherous waters of the arctic. The ship is also
symbolic of Victor, who like Walton, seeks knowledge at all costs. Surrounding the boat are a sea of eyes that gaze injured and reproachful. Throughout the novel, sight oppresses the Creature, as it is through sight that his difference is revealed and he is shunned. The watchful eyes serve as a judgment against Victor, who despite all of his knowledge is blind to the consequences of his actions. A red boat indicates rage and madness against unsettled waters.
