This eyecatching painting was an immediate reaction to 9/11. Berlin spent many years in New York and visits to this day, the city has aspecial place in his heart. The response visible on this canvas reflects in Abstract Expressionist style the very deep impact Berlin felt on that terrible day. The piece is resonant with emotion and nods not only to 21st century Sharp Edge Neo-Expressionism but to other artists who, over the decades have put their own interpretations of the city into the public domain; Haring, Warhol and Basquiat spring to the fore and their contemporary is maintaining the art traditions of New York.
