These beautiful lacquered Chinese lidded temple jars/ Ginger jars are a rare find, especially a similar matching pair. The Jars are superbly hand painted & incised on a Chinese Red Ground with Black and gold gilt detailing. The Wonderful Scrolling design includes Lotus flowers, tree branches with leaves & flowers throughout the body & top lid, and intricate Greek key & Ruyi Motifs around the neck. These decorative Paper Mache lacquered pieces are made by master artisans. The art of making these baluster shaped jars takes a very long time to make as each coat has to dry before applying the next layer. After this process is completed then the hand painting of the surface and incised design begins and finally finished with even more layers of lacquer.
Matching Sets are never exactly the same, these have the same design but the size and shape does vary. Please know the set listed varies slightly in size and shape, and one has more gold gilt.
