Measuring an impressive 18 inches in diameter, the shallow bowl has the broad, flat-bottomed form traditionally associated with Moroccan Kasriya bowls used for serving couscous and other communal dishes. Unlike simpler utilitarian examples, this piece is extensively decorated with geometric inlay, combining warm camel bone with silver-tone alloy and brass-toned metal against the deep brown wood.

The surface has developed a beautiful, naturally aged patina that gives the bowl considerable depth and character. The contrast between the dark wood, pale bone and metalwork makes it especially dramatic displayed as a large centerpiece or wall-mounted decorative object.

A substantial and highly decorative example of North African craftsmanship with wonderful graphic presence.

Condition: Good antique condition with attractive age-related patina. No cracks or breaks noted. Surface and metalwork show wear and oxidation consistent with age. Please see photographs for details. See less
