In the 1840s, against many odds and challenges, the poet Robert Browning wooed the poet, Elizabeth Barrett, and they wed in 1846..Elizabeth's poems, written before their marriage, do not come from the the Portuguese, but from her heart. This book (Grosset & Dunlap) is a Cameo edition. The b/w illustrations are cameo silhouettes, and the cover has an embossed (raised) cameo of Johann Gutenberg.
