Hand wrought sterling silver duck brooch pendant with centrally set finely crushed, turquoise inlay.
HALLMARKS: TAXCO, MEXICO (circle), B (inside circle); STERLING; 925 with an Eagle assay stamp
In the 1930's, American-born Bernice I. Goodspeed traveled to Mexico City and then Taxco to study Mesoamerican arts and lore. She stayed to become a renowned jewelry designer, during Mexico's silver renaissance. Today, her works are difficult to find and highly desirable. This superb, brooch pendant, most likely dating to the 1940’s, attests to Goodspeed's technical and inventive skills.
