Frank Coburn (1862 - 1938) was active/lived in California, Illinois.He is known for Landscape-urban, figure and still life painting.
Frank Coburn was a California artist known for his landscapes, especially his nocturnal views of Los Angeles. Coburn moved to California from the Midwest in 1909. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, and although he was a mostly self-taught artist, he did study briefly at the Art Institute of Chicago.In California, he developed his own unique style reminiscent of the Barbizon school of painters. He took numerous painting trips within California where he must have gained inspiration for his many Impressionistic landscapes. Coburn eventually sold his Los Angeles studio in 1928, and continued to paint out of his Santa Ana, California home or on the road during his art excursions. William Wrigley, the chewing gum magnate, was a supposed collector of Coburn's work.Coburn had a one-man show at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana in 1938, before his death that same year See less
