A substantial Impressionist oil showing two young women relaxing in a sunny garden with a peacock and a peahen.

Born in Bosnia, Anton Sipos began drawing at an early age and left home in his early teens to work as a film animation artist. He achieved immediate success with hiss first work, "Surrogate", winning an Academy Award for best-animated short subject under the direction of Yugoslav animator Dushon VuKotic.

In 1964, he moved to Montmartre to study at L'Ecole de Paris. During his time in Paris, he exhibited widely and with success including at the Salon d'Automne and Le Salon d'Artistes Françaises. While in France, he also made numerous painting trips to Provence, Giverny, Rouen and the Cote d'Azur as well as to Italy.

In 1970, Sipos arrived in California where he painted landscapes of Los Angeles and marine scenes of the harbor in San Diego. He also worked as an artist for the film industry, most notably with Eleanor Ettinger Studio in New York where he was given the responsibility of transferring Norman Rockwell's original oils to lithographic plates. Sipos held his first major New York exhibition at the Jasper Gallery on 57th Street in 1977 and has continued to exhibit widely and with success throughout the United States.
