Sculpture in ceramic signed torrido mazzotti for m.g.a. , mask with a holder function. Albisola italia, first half of the twentieth century albisola, italy first half of the twentieth century torido mazzotti, son of giuseppe mazzotti was born in savona on july 31, 1895, collaborates, together with the younger brother tullio, in the management of the father's factory. He studied at the institute of arts and mestieri of savona graduating in 1914 and at the same time learns to paint under the guidance of dario ravano. In the years of the first world war he found work as a designer at the 'ansaldo' workshops and returns to the ceramic only at the end of the war, working at the 'm.g.a.' manufacture, owned by the family and at the same time at the same time he at the same time, together with his brother tullio, the specialization courses held by gaetano ballardini in faenza. In 1923 he married rosa bovio and, thanks to his economic help, he opened a factory in albisola superiore in the premises owned by the marquis gavotti called 'mazzotti & c.'. Between the 1920s and 1930s he is one of the promoters of the albisolese futurist ceramic. In 1925 he presented some of his ceramics to the international exhibition of the decorative and modern arts in paris. In 1932 the mazzotti decided to open a new factory and torrid deals with the design of the electric ovens until then never used in albisola. At the outbreak of the second war, the factory must close and in 1944, a few months after the death of his father giuseppe, torido and his brother tullio are persecuted by the nazi-fascists. At the end of the war they resume the activity and in a short time, thanks to their fame, they start to host the major contemporary artists in the factory. In 1959 torrido mazzotti divided from his brother tullio and became, together with his children bepi and celina, the only owner of the family factory to which he gives the name 'fabbrica casa museo g. Mazzotti 1903'. From the seventies, while continuing to attend manufacture and the albisolese artistic world torido mazzotti leaves the management of the factory to his son bepi. Torrido mazzotti died in savona in 1988. Some of his works are now preserved in the mazzotti museum of albisola. M.g.a. Ceramist apprentice from the age of twelve at the fornce dei 'fornari' in albisola, after various experiences as an employee in livorno, at the 'bonfiglio' manufacture and in naples near the 'picone', giuseppe mazzotti, called bausin, in 1903, in the premises of vicolo del pozzo in albisola, he opens a shop where he creates chimneys for construction. Soon the furnace becomes 'traditional and modern art ceramics factory giuseppe mazzotti' and begins the processing of artistic ceramics in its own signing with its initials 'm.g.a.', the pieces that come out of the shop \. Source enamelled ceramic materials size 24 x 19 x h 9 cm condition the piece is in very good condition, as can be seen from the attached photos. Report some small shortcomings in the enamel visible in the photo. Evaluate through the photos. This piece has an attribution mark,
