Large naval box in solid mahogany decorated with reinforcements in brass and virgin cartridge.
This magnificent work is English in the taste of the productions of Martin Guillaume Biennais, the Napoleon 1st goldsmith (1764-1843) and the two Empresses. It closes with a small key.
Open, the top is covered with black leather.
This writing top is divided into two elements which are proving to each discover a crank lift, the one at the bottom is held by two small "pushers" in brass.
In the upper part, the desk is garnished with five lockers: a long in the middle (with lid), framed by two means (with lids provided for one of a small bone button) and two small ones at the ends (serving for enclosures).
The average locker, on the right, contains a system which makes it possible to identify the plinth located below, which shelters three ‘mini’ secret drawers.
He also reveals two small candle holders to write when he is dark in the candle and he has a rule, skillfully closed in his copper tube.

Beautiful model, the use of solid mahogany (rot -proof wood) and reinforcements of siding angles are intended to make the box more robust to the falls that the roll could create on a boat at sea. A refined object adapted to the daily D 'A gentleman naval officer.
