Crafted circa 1870, the figure is constructed of hand-shaped papier mâché over a lightweight frame and finished with a richly patinated hand-painted surface that beautifully imitates the look of aged leather. The decorative horse is embellished with an applied leather saddle and reins accented in red and green, and further dressed with a natural horsehair mane and tail that add wonderful texture and personality.
